So how exactly did I end up here ?

Okay, deep breath. Here goes. This is my very first attempt at just putting thoughts out there. No editing, no second-guessing, no trying to make it sound polished or professional—just me, talking out loud (well, dictating) and seeing what happens when I feed it into ChatGPT.

Because here’s the thing: I’m on a very steep learning curve. I’m learning how to use dictation and AI to make life easier—especially when it comes to the marketing side of things, which I’ve always found a bit tricky. This? This is an experiment. A new habit I’m building, one small step at a time.

I’ve played with ChatGPT a little already, and honestly? I’ve been shocked at how good it can be. It’s found ways to say things I would never have come up with in a million years. It’s like having a really eloquent, extremely patient friend who can untangle the words in my head and put them into something that makes sense.

But like I said—steep learning curve. It takes time. It takes brain power. And let’s be real, most of us are already stretched thin. So instead of trying to master it all in one go, I’m taking the “Atomic Habits” approach (if you haven’t read it, I highly recommend it https://jamesclear.com/atomic-habits-summary): just 5, 10, 15 minutes a day. That’s it.

I’ve also been really inspired by Bonnie Christine , who talks about using those small pockets of time—like when you’re having a cup of tea—to chip away at something big https://www.bonniechristine.com. That’s the plan. Just show up, even a little bit, every day. And eventually, it won’t feel so overwhelming. Eventually, maybe the words won’t get stuck in my head or my mouth. Maybe I’ll even enjoy the process.

This blog isn’t just for me, though. I want this to be something others can learn from too. I’m 60, and  honestly? It’s easy to start believing the lie that you’ve missed your moment. That it’s too late to start over, to learn something new, to reinvent yourself. But I’m here to say: don’t give up. Don’t give up on your dreams. It’s not too late.

This all started—well, really, it started again—during lockdown. As a driving instructor, I wasn’t allowed to work. Suddenly I had all this time on my hands. The very thing I’d always said I didn’t have enough of. And there I was, with too much.

I began doing yoga at home, because I couldn’t go to in-person classes. That led me to the Body Mind Soul Studio and their amazing virtual classes and Zoom chats. Just listening to those classes sparked something in me. I started sketching again—something I hadn’t done in years. And it felt like coming home.

Then one of those classes led me to a book club, which got me reading again. Not just fiction, but books that stretched my thinking and opened up new possibilities. That’s when I read Atomic Habits, and when I discovered Bonnie Christine’s work. Suddenly, all these pieces started coming together. It wasn’t too late. I wasn’t stuck. I was just beginning.

So here I am. Taking my 15 minutes today to learn how to use AI to build something new. Maybe even a new career. And maybe, just maybe, someone reading this will feel a little spark too.

You don’t need a perfect plan. You don’t need to have it all figured out.

You just need to begin.
